It was an exciting discovery last Monday when

a group of volunteers found what i had suspected was nearby for the past few weeks, A
Killdeer nest! A groundnesting bird, I had seen and hear

d a pairs sharp crys in the garden. Drawn to human disturbed areas (who the heck knows why?) these birds look right at home with the music of the highway behind them and the rythem of the city around them showing us all the nature can thrive in the city woth a little space and a little respoect. We have to stay away fromt heir nesting sight for another month or so...I guess thats where our late tomatoes will go!
