Hello everyone, my name is Elizabeth Morales and I am 19. I attend American University in DC. For the summer, I work for the Hartford Food System through Hartford Communities that Care. So far, I am happy with the experiences I have had working with the Hartford Food System. I've learned so much about the interesting subjects of agriculture and farming during the course of this program. I have also cultivated an interest in nature and the earth. I am thankful for the wonderful experience with the Hartford Food System.
Hello Everyone my name is Ruthie Pierre! I recently graduated highschool and this is my first time working with the Hartford Food System. Since I've worked here I have had a different outlook on the food that I eat. I now wonder where my food comes from and how it's processed, which I never did before.

Garlic Planting time
Thanks to our volunteers who helped plant out our garlic on the Laurel St. Field. We planted 40 lbs of Music and Chisnook Red, both hardneck varieties. This should give us a very nice crop of garlic for the 2010 season. We also managed to plant a small crop of Jerusalem Artichokes which, besides producing a delightful sunflower, also yield a great root crop.
As the snow starts to fall I am dreaming of summertime and grilling up some fresh garlic cloves!
